If you live in the midwest and play golf there’s a good chance you’ve heard of Austad’s Golf before but if you’re in town visiting for your first time you may be unfamiliar so let us properly introduce you two.
Austad’s Golf is a small chain of golf stores that have been slowly expanding ever since its start in 1963 when Oscar Austad wanted to take his passion of golf and turn it into a business. Now three generations in and ten locations, including two in Omaha, they have made quite the name for themselves in the golfing world.
The store, quite frankly, is huge, with over 10,000 feet of inventory to walk through, you’ll quickly find yourself lost in merchandise. They also have hitting bays and launch monitors so you can test out your swing before you commit. Austad’s in Omaha Westwood is located in the Westwood Plaza next to Baker’s and is open Monday through Friday: 10:00am to 7:00pm, Saturday 10:00am to 6:00pm, and Sunday 12:00pm to 5:00pm.

Now that we have the introduction out of the way, let's talk about what Austad’s Golf has in its store so you can know what you can and cannot get once you’re there. Although the West Maple store is definitely smaller than Westwood- (coming in at 6,500 square feet), the quality of the equipment and products are still at the top of the list.
You can expect to see golf clubs both new and used in Men’s, Women’s, Junior’s, and Left-Hands in the brand names you know and love; along with balls, apparel, shoes, bags, accessories, and more. They also have the two hitting bays like the other store, launch monitor club fittings, indoor putting green, golf repair services, and trade-in opportunities. The West Maple Austad’s Golf is open at the same time as the Westwood store.

They have their very own Full Swing Golf Simulator or Batting Cage which isn’t at every Play It Again Sports, so you’re getting more here which is great for golfers. They have also received the “Gold Standard Store” award which means that this location is going above and beyond the normal standard.

Like a lot of chain stores, there can be some hits and misses and this one from a glance looks to be in the “mid-range” as reviews are lower than average. But ultimately you’ve got to check it out for yourself to see if it meets your own criteria. At Golf Galaxy you can get a wide range of golf clubs, apparel, and more.
They also have a myriad of services including but not limited to the TrackMan, Golf Lessons, Custom Club Fittings, Full-Service Club Repair, Simulator Rental(s), the Trade-In Program, and the Pre-Owned Club Program where you can find your used golf clubs. This Golf Galaxy is open Monday through Friday 9:00am to 8:00pm, Saturday 9:00am to 7:00pm, and is closed on Sunday.
