Ping Eye 2 Wedges

About the Ping Eye 2 Wedge

The Ping Eye 2 Wedge was a game changer when it was released, the forgiveness relative to the competition wasn't even fair because these clubs were so incredible. The feature "Perimeter Weighting" technology, which distributes weight around the edges of the clubhead. It increases the moment of inertia (MOI), enhancing stability and forgiveness on off-center hits. The perimeter weighting helps lower the center of gravity (CG), promoting a higher launch angle and more consistent ball flight. This technology is particularly beneficial for improving accuracy and control, especially in challenging conditions around the green. What set the Ping Eye 2 Wedge in an entirely new universe was its distinctive "U-Groove" face pattern, also known as square grooves. These grooves are engineered to maximize spin and control by providing greater friction between the clubface and the ball, allowing for better stopping power on the greens. This is what got the club in hot water when it was released. Basically it was used in competition and it was imparting spin on the ball that no one else could achieve. After a drawn out legal battle between the USGA and PING, the Eye 2 + was released with tighter grooves to conform to new standards. The high-toe design and the slightly offset hosel contribute to a larger hitting area, further enhancing the club's playability and versatility. All of these features made the Eye 2 Wedge one of the best to have ever been constructed.
