Frequent flyers of the HawkBlog will know how we search for local golf shops first and foremost and you can’t get more local than this one. Continental Golf in Raleigh right off Capital Blvd in north from the city’s center has been around since the 70’s and has won Top Ping and Minuzo for several of those years.

Besides Custom Fittings they also offer services like Custom Club Building and Refinishing. Their 2,000 square foot retail store has plenty of equipment to shop through from new and used golf clubs, to bags, balls, and accessories. Continental Golf is open Monday through Friday 8:00am to 4:00pm and is closed on the weekends.

Justin went out of his way to send me home with a few options to try at the range after I got my act together. The guy just made me feel like I was a real priority and there was zero pressure. If you really want a club fitting that’s done right, go here. BTW - ended up with the Srixon ZX5’s. Couldn’t be happier.”

A part of the well known resale franchise which has the likes of Plato’s Closet, Once Upon a Child, Style Encore, and Music Go Around, Play It Again Sports has everything you could need for any of your sporting equipment needs.

If you have your own sporting gear you’re looking to part with in exchange, they will take your quality used gear and you can either get paid then and there or use it to trade with stuff in-store. No appointment necessary to trade, you can come in at any time during business hours to trade and buy. This location is Monday through Friday 9:00am to 8:00pm and Sunday 11:00am to 6:00pm.

Otherwise, this place is great for getting rid of old or unused equipment, with their easy process where you get a certain amount of store credits to use (or not-you get the choice :)) on your next purchase there! GlobalGolf.com is a place many golfers will know and have probably either purchased from before or someone they know in their golf group has. This online retailer has over 300,000 items including but not limited to golf clubs, balls, bags, shoes, accessories, apparel, and more. Now normally you would shop online to get access to GlobalGolf’s stock but they actually have a few physical locations and there is one in Raleigh that’s not too far away from Brier Creek Commons in William B. Umstead State Park.

Other services include Trade-In, Professional Lessons, Custom Club Fitting, Gameplay Simulator Rental, and Full-Service Club Repair. Average reviews for this spot are less-than average so you’ll have to form your own opinion on it if you decide to go see what they have for yourself. The GlobalGolf.com location in Raleigh is open Monday through Saturday 10:00am to 6:00pm.

I worked with Tom, who was incredibly patient and helpful. Even though I was struggling to make solid contact, he offered great pointers, lent me an iron and alignment sticks, and suggested I practice before coming back. After a few range sessions, I returned and Tom fit me with a great set of irons and a used driver. I’m now hitting the ball well and having fun again. Awesome experience — I’ll be buying all my clubs from GlobalGolf going forward!”

Other sites like Callaway pre-owned, Titleist certified, and others give 30 days refund after trying a club. That's the way it should be. You never know whether a club's going to work for you or not and if it doesn't you don't necessarily want to be stuck with a bunch of store credits. My bad rating has nothing to do with the quality of the clubs (although the condition of the clubs in their quality categories are quite a bit lower than other vendors) but with their terrible return policy. In the future I will stick with Callaway Pre-owned and Titleist Certified.”

Just like GlobalGolf is a name golfers will recognize, so is Golf Galaxy. Golf Galaxy is a big retailer that has just about everything you could need for your game to go as smoothly as possible. At the Pleasant Valley Promenade directly attached to a DICK’S Sporting Goods store (another place that may have some pre-owned clubs for you) is Golf Galaxy which you can find a wide selection of new golf clubs, a smaller display of pre-owned clubs, apparel, shoes, balls, bags, accessories, and more.

Golf Galaxy also has a list of services including Fitting Sessions with their team, Lesson Packages, Full-Service Club Repairs, and Simulator Rentals where you can practice your swings on various courses. As is the same with GlobalGolf this store has a little bit below average reviews so be wary as you go in. This Golf Galaxy location is open Monday through Saturday 9:00am to 9:00pm and Sunday 10:00am to 8:00pm.

Overall a wonderful experience, and I would highly recommend this Golf Galaxy for your golf needs!”

I have spoke to multiple Golf Galaxy/Dick's members, multiple managers, got direct golf reps on the phone while I was there (that they called), no call backs to me once leaving and no answers when stopped in multiple times. Paid for a golf shaft and never received it. Bad thing is that no one seems to have an answer to this situation. Maybe I'll apply for a job and solve it myself.”
