Scaling down to a more local business for this next pick we have Golf USA located in Eden Prairie right next to Clothes Mentor at the Lariat Center I shopping mall. Their store might not be as vast as 2nd Swing but you get that personalized touch that’s missing from a lot of bigger businesses.

Their inventory is also quite impressive with plenty of new and used golf clubs, balls, bags, heads covers, apparel options, accessories, and more. They also are involved in a lot of local pop-up events with deals and steals you can partake in. Golf USA is open Monday through Friday 9:00am to 6:00pm, Saturday 10:00am to 4:00pm, and is closed on Sunday.

Known thrifters might already be familiar with the name Play It Again Sports, but if you’re unfamiliar, this chain is a part of a larger franchise with stores like Plato’s Closet, Once Upon a Child, and Music Go Around; but instead of focusing on clothing items and musical instruments, they of course are all about sporting equipment.

There are actually three locations near Minneapolis’s center. We will list out the other two locations below but the one we are focusing on today is in Minnetonka at the Country Village Shopping Center. 

At any Play It Again Sports location you’ll be able to trade-in old equipment of your own and either get cash or store credit towards future purchases. Each “golf” section varies so you might have bigger selections at one store than others but there are plenty of clubs to check out. The Minnetonka location is open Monday through Friday 9:00am to 8:00pm, Saturdays 9:00am to 6:00pm, and Sundays 10:00am to 6:00pm.

The two other Play It Again Sports locations in Minneapolis are Roseville (which is a Gold Standard Store) and St. Paul.

There are loads of chains for many different sports and outdoor activities, so it makes sense that golf is no different. One famous chain that has locations all over the country including right here in Minneapolis in Richfield at the Shops At Lyndale is Golf Galaxy. 

You can find a wide selection of new golf clubs, a smaller display of pre-owned clubs, apparel, shoes, balls, bags, accessories, and more.

Golf Galaxy also has a list of services including Fitting Sessions with their team, Lesson Packages, Full-Service Club Repairs, and Simulator Rentals. There’s a couple other Golf Galaxy’s relatively near the city so you can try your luck at other stores if this one doesn’t have what you need. This specific Golf Galaxy location is open Monday through Saturday 9:00am to 7:00pm and Sunday 10:00am to 5:00pm.

Don't get me wrong I'm satisfied with my purchase and I don't know what tasks the employees were completing but as I was the only one in the store and the could've stuck with me a little more than they did.”
