The Ping G10 Fairway Wood is engineered with a crown that intersects the sole giving the club a low profile and a shallow face that improves performance for any sort of lie your might find yourself in. The skirt-less design resulting from the intersecting crown and sole allowed the folks at PING to reposition mass for a lower center of gravity. Most of the weight comes from a heavy pad that is placed on the sole of the club, in effect a lower CG promotes higher velocity and higher launch, both things you want from a fairway wood. The shallow face is extended from heel to toe for more hitting area, making the club more forgiving than previous models.
