The Best Drivers by Category
Posted by Colin Streets on Sep 15, 2025
We’re crowning a handful of drivers as the best in their respective category, come along!
When you need to make your ball really fly and gather distance, who do you call?
That’s right, a driver.
Drivers are the ones to ?go the distance?, they are specifically designed to be the club that hits the farthest, no other club can do it like a driver. It’s the longest club and has the biggest head so you can really get some drive going. When you need to hit far, or when you get stuck behind a big lake or dune, you want the driver. There’s a reason why having one, or a couple, in your bag is good when you’re out on the greens, but what drivers stand out from the crowd? What ones shine brightest in their respective categories? We’ve decided to take our knowledge to the test and crown a select handful of drivers based on certain achievements.
Best is subjective, this list is not. These are the most deserving drivers in their respective categories:
?Most Innovative
?Loudest
?April Fools Adjacent
?Golden Oldie
?As Seen On TV
But why are we the ones qualified to give you all of this vital information for your game? Well if you haven’t heard of us yet then let us have the pleasure of introducing you to what we do best:
Our story is a simple one, what started out as a side-venture in the highs and lows of selling shoes on eBay, has turned into a business with over 20 full-time employees, a big warehouse, and all the golf clubs to fill it. At StickHawk we sell authentic drivers, fairway woods, hybrids, irons, wedges, putters, complete sets, and all the golf accessories you could ever need so that you can play today! We want to match you with the golf club(s) of your dreams. You can take our “Club Decider Quiz,” which is near the bottom of our home page, and it will help you decide the exact right make and models you need to feel good while you’re on the course. |
Now that we have the introductions out of the way, let’s get into why you came here: places the medals around the necks, or should we say shafts, of these fine drivers.
?And the winner for ‘Most Innovative’ goes to…
TaylorMade has made a big push over the last few years to make carbon fiber driver-faces the wave of the future and that would have been innovative, if it wasn’t already done.
The Callaway Big Bertha C4 Driver holds that honor. It debuted a full 20 years before TaylorMade launched their first carbon fiber face in their Stealth model. Unfortunately though, the C4 faces tended to go, “boom.”
It might have been Callaway’s worst attempt at making a driver and it saw virtually zero commercial success but, boy was it innovative.

Though you can still find them available for purchase in certain places including sometimes in Callaway’s Certified Pre-Owned shop- (although right now as of writing this they are out of stock). StickHawk ourselves doesn’t have any and it seems to be that your best bet at finding the C4 Driver is through independent sellers on eBay should you want to take a few swings with this remarkable blunder.
?And the winner for ‘Loudest’ goes to…
If you want a driver sound that’s capable of chasing off bears, maxing out the soundbar on an editing software, triggering PTSD, or piercing ear drums two holes over, then the driver you’re looking for is the Nike Sasquatch Sumo 2. This driver is simply a treat, and it makes for a great wedding present. Make sure you bring your PPE to the range when you pull this out of the bag.

Unlike the Callaway Big Bertha C4 Driver, the Nike Sasquatch Sumo 2 is more widely available and easier to find. In fact, our very own store page has more than a couple on offer right now. And here we have as a prime example the: Nike Sasquatch Sumo 2 3 Hybrid 20* Mitsubishi Rayon hDiamana Regular Graphite RH which was $99.99 and is now only $78.49. This club is pre-owned, has been hit with, and has marks on it from normal use, but is overall in good condition. Check out the specs here:
- Men's Right-Handed
- Loft: 20 Degrees (3 Hybrid)
- Club Length at address: 39.50"
- Shaft Flex: Regular
- Shaft Material: Graphite
- Shaft Brand: Mitsubishi Rayon
- Shaft Model: hDiamana
- Golf Pride Tour Velvet Midsize Grip in Good condition
- Headcover included
Overall Condition: Used - Grade: 8 (Good Quality)
Make your mark on the greens known when you take this driver out for a spin. And prepare your friends accordingly because they are going to stand by and watch like you’ve lit a firework on the Fourth of July.
?And the winner for ‘Golden Oldie’ goes to…
The best driver of all time, in our humble opinion, is the Callaway Original Great Big Bertha Warbird Driver. When the world needed a driver, Callaway delivered. It debuted in 1991, and since then many have improved upon its initial design, but the wall they broke through paved the way for all modern drivers.

Since we’re headed back in time with this award, you won’t find this model readily available. Here you will need to check eBay and other independent sellers to find this piece of lost time. We at StickHawk don’t have one on our store page as of now, but a seller on eBay by the names of MKT Goods has Callaway Great Big Bertha War Bird 10* Loft Driver R-Flex - Original Shaft/Grip for $29.99. The head is titanium and the shaft is graphite so and although there’s been a little wear and tear, this baby will stick pack quite the punch.
?And the winner for the ‘April Fools Adjacent’ award goes to…
On April 1, 2025, MyGolfSpy created an April fools joke about a driver that L.A.B. golf had just been created. The joke was for a driver that was face-balanced and center shafted.
Ha-ha.
Well the jokes on them because the Wilson Invex basically already did that. And not only did they do it, John Daly won a PGA tournament using that as his driver.
Presenting the “April Fools Adjacent” award to the: Wilson Invex.
We’re still in the past for this bad boy as Wilson Invex are ancient relics and aren’t often found anywhere that isn’t through a second-hand shop or online. We at StickHawk don’t have this club in our store as of yet but through the eBay seller TahoeTwelves you’ll find the Wilson Invex Titanium 9.0 Driver RH Wilson Firestick 3.5 Stiff Graph (L5380) for $28.54. Just like the Callaway Original Great Big Bertha Warbird Driver, the head on the Invex is titanium and the shaft is graphite. The length is 45 inches and is overall in good condition, it of course shows its signs of wear and tear but nothing too bad for an older model like this.
?And finally the winner for the ‘As Seen On TV’ award goes to…
If you are ever watching the golf channel late at night, it’s inevitable you will see a couple infomercials for some wild equipment that assures fast results. The very best of these was created by Jack “The Hammer” Hamm.
The Hammer Turbo Air Driver is the clear winner. Having holes in the face really put this sucker over the top. The infomercials implied that gains of ten, twenty, thirty, fifty- even five-hundred yards were all possible and plausible outcomes. At least that’s what we got from them. The driver isn’t legal, but it sure is a dandy. (And we’ll say this, it’s definitely worth at least one swing because who doesn’t wanna see what this thing can do? Whether it really hits as far as it says or it just chalks up to being one of those silly TV ads, we do love to see something new on the course).

This club, unlike our past three, is still getting made consistently today, and you will find it a frequent flyer for lots of golf stores and businesses alike. StickHawk currently doesn’t have one, but LongBallSports does. LongBall, if you don’t know, specializes specifically in Hammer Turbos. So if you’re looking to try one out for yourself, well this isn’t a bad place to get one from. They have new and used clubs like this one: LIGHTLY USED HAMMER TURBO AIR for $159.95. Featuring 45 inches of length, a Royal Grip, Zolex Titanium head, and the “lightest Graphite material” for the shaft you’ll no doubt be hitting something special with this club.
There are some other places you can get your hands on a Hammer Turbo Air Driver including Amazon of all places. But you’ll mainly find them through LongBall Sports.
Thank you one and all for coming to our very own award ceremony for the best drivers by category. We put some real hard work into creating a list that reaches the epic highs and lows of all that a driver can do.
When you’re swinging with one, you want to feel powerful, you really want that ball to fly and we want to get you there. That’s why we have an entire category dedicated to drivers on our website.
